No new (or real?) jobs?
I've never had a job before and I am looking for one right now! I've heard so many people say that they are having trouble finding jobs, but I did not know it would be this hard to find a part-time retail or food job. What sucks even more is that many of these positions aren't even real. This is especially the case for Starbucks, which "rotates" job postings that are reposted about every 90 days or so. A few days after applying, I got an email saying that the position I applied to was reposted. It seems that nobody will ever look at my application.
In high school, I applied to a Starbucks within walking distance to my home because I couldn't drive. After a few weeks I heard nothing back. My Mom told me I should go in person to ask about the status of my application. The cashier kindly wrote down my name and number on a post-it and promised to give it to her manager. I have a feeling the manager never took a glance at my application. If they don't want me that's fine, but at least send me another email telling me you don't want me!
Last week, I had an interview at a retail store (not naming where) and the manager seemed to have an interview every 20 minutes that day alone. I was one of three candidates perusing the store in anticipation of our interviews. While I did not get the job, I was told that if I applied to their upcoming seasonal position, they would take me on for that. As much as I want to believe them, I have continued applying to other places in case they change their mind.
Man, I just want a job.
