Write It Down

Information overload/chronically online

I'm always consuming content. I get the feeling that if I don't stay up-to-date on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, I'm missing out. While I have already started to limit my usage of Instagram, it's only increased my usage of the other two platforms. I even pay for YouTube premium so I don't waste my time with ads.

Also, as someone who loves writing, making videos and designing graphics, I can't help but contribute to the content on these platforms myself. The term "User Generated Content" (UGC) annoys me because of all the affiliate marketers on TikTok that use it to describe what they do, but also... what I'm doing isn't all that different. Right?

Sure, I've never made money from anything I've ever posted online, but I am still keeping people online and there must be harm in that. There has to be! Not only is there all the privacy violations that you may or not be aware of, but I also have to believe that there is a better use of people's time than to look at what I make. I am not disparaging myself here, but instead I am admitting that I hope other people do not spend as much time online as I do, even if it's to look at something that I made and am proud of.

You're reading this right now when you could be reading a book, writing music, enjoying some peace and quiet outside. All things I aspired to do years ago but at the age of 19 I have found myself devoid of inspiration.

While I hope you enjoy this blog, please don't ever let reading it prevent you from making something yourself!
